1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Begins

On April 19, 1943, Jewish resistance fighters in Nazi-occupied Poland launched an armed revolt against German forces, resisting the final attempt to deport the ghetto’s inhabitants to concentration camps. The uprising became a symbol of defiance and courage during the Holocaust.
