1917 United States Declares War on Germany

On April 6, 1917, the United States declared war on Germany, officially entering World War I. This decision came after a series of provocations, most notably the interception of the Zimmermann Telegram, in which Germany proposed a military alliance with Mexico against the US. The declaration marked a turning point in the war thanks to the addition of American supplies, funds, and troops to the cause of the Allies.
