1941 Pearl Harbor Is Bombed

On December 7, 1941, Japan launched a surprise military strike on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, devastating the Pacific Fleet. The attack destroyed numerous ships and aircraft and resulted in over 2,400 American deaths. This event prompted the United States to declare war on Japan the next day and officially enter World War II.
