1965 Selma to Montgomery March for Voting Rights

On March 25th, 1965, Martin Luther King Jr. and thousands of civil rights activists completed their historic five-day march from Selma, Alabama, to Montgomery, Alabama, to demand voting rights for African Americans. The march, which faced violent opposition, became a turning point in the Civil Rights Movement and directly contributed to the passage of the Voting Rights Act later that year.
