1963 Touch-Tone Phones Debut in the United States

On November 18, 1963, touch-tone phones debuted in the United States, revolutionizing telephonic communication. Unlike traditional rotary phones, touch-tone models used a keypad with buttons that generated different tones for each number, allowing for quicker and more efficient dialing. This technology set the stage for modern telecommunications and paved the way for automated systems and, eventually, digital dialing.
