2011 Death of Libya's Muammar al-Qaddafi
On October 20, 2011, rebel forces killed Muammar al-Qaddafi, Libya’s de facto leader, after months of civil unrest backed by international military intervention. His death marked the culmination of the Libyan Revolution, led to the collapse of his decades-long regime, and sparked widespread uncertainty about the future of Libya’s governance and stability.
