1957 USSR Launches Sputnik 1
On October 4th, 1957, the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1, the world’s first artificial satellite. This marked the beginning of the space race and a new era in space exploration. This historic event demonstrated the USSR’s technological prowess but also intensified Cold War tensions.
